We’re excited to share with you about Weekend One Holiday Market vendor Rosy Rings, a Denver-based company creating hand-poured candle and fragrance collections that combine intoxicating aromas with real botanicals to bring the loveliest of nature’s motifs home. Shannon Cumberland founded the company over 20 years ago, and to this day, finds much of her inspiration from working in her garden, which is evident when looking at Rosy Ring’s beautiful botanical candles. You’ll be sure to find the perfect holiday gift while shopping at the Rosy Ring’s booth, as well as some incredible new additions to your own home.
WHAT DOES YOUR BRAND MEAN TO YOU?
It’s my livelihood and creative passion. It’s a workplace filled with bright + funny employees, a bunch of dogs and an occasional kitten.
FIRST PRODUCT YOU CREATED?
Wreaths made with dried flowers.
HOW HAS YOUR BRAND EVOLVED?
We started in my basement and now work out of a 22,000 square foot building. In that sense we certainly have evolved. In terms of product design, I’ve moved away from working strictly with fragrance products. Now my energy is focused on incorporating the Rosy aesthetic into everything from stationery to paperweights.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCT OR COLLECTION YOU’VE CREATED?
The Botanist Collection. It was from our now discontinued brand, Peacock Parfumerie. We dipped our toes into the bath and body category, and unfortunately, we had to yank our foot back out again. Peacock was a way for me to express my weird side. The line featured beautiful perfumed waxed objects. The creations were filled with dried elements, of course! We created the molds out of vintage objects. The beautiful wax hand was cast from a kitschy ashtray. The lovely illustrations on the packaging was done by my friend, the amazing artist Bill Stockman. Props to you bath and body lines out there – it’s a tough business.
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR STARTING YOUR BRAND?
My dad was an extremely crafty guy and I inherited that gene. I have been crafting since I was a little kid. I have a fond childhood recollection of pouring and casting the same owl and mushroom candles over and over again. The kit only came with 1 pound of wax so I had to melt down the candles to pour them again!
WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU WORK WITH?
Rosy Rings is known for incorporating natural elements like dried flowers, leaves and shells into our products. We source naturals from all over the world: fruit from South Africa, flowers from everywhere, shells from the Philippines, cones and pods from India, etc. We literally have a guy in Utah that presses hundreds of thousands of flowers for us.why do you do what you do?
WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF YOUR DAY?
Snuggling with my kids.
BEST PART ABOUT BEING A COLORADO MAKER?
It’s inspiring to work in such a beautiful place.
